Remembering Names

i deal with over 400 people where i work, and i have trouble remembering names.

everyone knows mine though.

i can remember their ip addresses more easily than i can remember their names.

Don't worry to much about it, everyone has the problem. I usually try to associate them with someone I already know. Like Tom = My son etc. Ask them for their name again, let them know you remember the face but you can't recall the name (because you are awful at names). I usually just walk up to people that may remember me or may not and just introduce myself again. Like "Hi, I'm Been there, I met you on JWD". That way they remember me now in the present and aren't trying to figure out who I am, from where. I hate it when I know I recognize someone but for the life of me can't remember where I know them from.

If you aren't a good lier then what you tell them needs to be something you believe. Maybe you "Had the opportunity to take some time off to do some personal growth" writing, research (they don't need to know on what but they may ask), doing things you had always wanted to do but didn't have time to. You learned alot about yourself. You didn't plan on being out so long but before you knew it a year and a half had gone by and you thought it was time to get back to work.

If you did help your hubby with his business then I would really play that one up because you could have alot of for instances if asked. It was important to you that your husbands company get off to a good start and it is hard to afford good help when you just start out, so you jumped in where ever needed (since you were a manager), it was a labour of love. You feel it is at a point now and running smooth enough that you can persue your own interests again.

I would stay away from telling them about the addiction in any way. It is in your past and that is where it should stay if it has nothing to do with your job performance now.

Were you fired from the year and half ago job? Would they have a reason to give you a bad reference? I think you will do okay, you got the job you are in now.

Just believe what you tell them and they will too.

Charities

i am employed with the federal government and we are a new branch so we are in the midst of setting up donations for charity to be donated through our paychecks.

anyway, i volunteered to be a coordinator for the cfc (combined federal campaign) in which i was encouraging people to give some out of their paycheck to a charity of their choice..i have to admit i had flashbacks of being in field service while doing this..lol

i will say that i asked a few jw's that worked there and they didn't give *knows where their money goes.

I always give to the Red Cross. They are at all disasters, you name it. They get severly depleted when several things are going on at once.

Can we forgive our parents??????????

guess this kind of goes with the other thread i started about looking at the inner child that is still hurtingk by posting a pic of us when we where kids.. i found this pic of my parents, my mom was just 15,,,,,my dad barely 18, shortly after , they married soon and i was born when my my was just 16. .

just looking at their faces in this moment in time, in this picture, i can see , that they were just kids too, that they were not ready to face the hardships of starting a family so soon.

i am not making excuses for the things they both did,,,,,,,,,,, they both did many things to hurt me.

I know what you mean. It is a time of growing up I think when you look at a picture of your parents and see them as real people. The day I saw my Granny as a dark haired young women with 5 young kids (3 more to come) she became a human to me. All was forgiven. I also watched my kids grow up and and saw where my parents (they didn't raise me) were at that age and could see where their heads were at the time. I could forgive the 22 year old man in a bad situation that saw no way out but to run away. All of a sudden you do see they all did the best they could at the time with what they had to work with. Right or wrong they tried to survive not even thinking about what future pain they would cause. They also were growing up.

I have great remorse for the way I raised my step son, I have told him so many times, but given what I had at the time I am afraid I would do it the same way again, I could not cope. I could do better now but now is too late.........all I can do is see my error and appoligize. He forgives me, I don't forgive myself.

It seems you are doing alot of healing Dede, someday you will be able to move on..........this is a good thing.

it is a climb we are making together, and yet a climb we can't do for each other.

Homesick

i was wondering for people that have left their native land do you get homesick from time to time?

i left england 22 years ago and go through periods of terrible homesickness.

then it passes.

Been there

I was born in Canada and I love it there. I bounced back and forth growing up between the States and Canada. I had never lived in any house for more then a year so I had a hard time with roots and where home really is.

I have been in this house in Kentucky for 17 years now so I guess it is home. What I do find is I get homesick for a place in time, not a physical place. A time that was good to me and comforting. I know I need it when I get out the ooooooooold John Denver & Simon & Garfunkle records (yes, I did said records).
